Brandi & Brian’s Engagement

We had such a fun night shooting Brandi & Brian! We met at Stone Cup before we started shooting and we ended up chatting for an hour! We really like this couple and are so excited about doing their pictures and their wedding. They were so much fun dancing on Fraizier Avenue and playing the “piano”…loved it!

Congrats guys…we hope you love your pictures…can’t wait until the wedding!!

How did you meet?
Brian & I met while I was living in Savannah on December 3rd, 2006.  It was via a mutual friend from my hometown Dublin Georgia.

Anything special you’d like to share about dating?
We’ve done alot together-travelling, concerts, moving to a new city… I think it’s helped us learn a lot about one another.

Describe your proposal.
Brian proposed to me on our 5 year anniversary during a weekend in Boone, NC after an amazing meal and a drive back up the beautiful mountain to our cabin…There was a little voice that said, I think he might…but, after waiting the entire day and evening meal I gave up…that’s when it happened. :)  I think he knows how bad I am at trying to figure out surprises beforehand so he outsmarted me.

What is your ring like?
Just as I have always imagined it to be.

How would you describe the way you feel about each other?
Best Friends, partners in life…all that good ole stuff people talk about love…

Do you have any special plans for your wedding that you’d like to share?
Very small  & intimate is what we are going for…In this whole planning thing, I’ve fallen in love with Etsy.com for fun creative ideas.

James & Mary’s Engagement

We are so happy that James and Mary asked us to do their photography. They have a fantastic sense of style and interest in photography, and we loved shooting in Johnson City and Jonesborough for a change. We started out at this fabulous old train depot and then went to Jonesborough and enjoyed lots of little neat spots in the downtown area. James and Mary have a sweet story, we are so happy for them and are really looking forward to their wedding in August.

We hope you enjoy James & Mary’s pictures and sweet story. :)

How did you meet?
Mary and I met while we were both attending Carson-Newman College. It was right before a long, cramped drive to Maryland for Spring Break in 2005. Her roommate was also from Maryland, and she agreed to give me a ride home. When I went out to meet her, Mary was standing there in the grungiest sweatshirt imaginable, but that didn’t stop me from falling for her over the next eight hours.

Anything special you’d like to share about dating?
It’s been a long and interesting journey since we met five years ago, and we couldn’t be more excited to finally be tying the knot. The most special part about dating for us is how well we’ve gotten to know each other—no secrets here. We can truly call one another ‘best friend’.

Describe your proposal.
I skipped a midterm (with the instructor’s permission) to surprise Mary on the anniversary of the day we met. When I pulled into her driveway, I called her and asked her to meet me at the spot where I first told her I loved her. She ran outside, and there I was with a huge smile and twelve perfectly picked red roses. After she calmed down, I told her I loved her, and that if she’d let me, I’d spend the rest of my life surprising her. I got down on one knee, and I asked her to marry me!

I was able to make up the midterm during finals week.

What is your ring like?
James got the ring from my dad. It was the same ring that he gave to my mom when he proposed to her thirty-nine years ago. James kept the stone and original setting, but had the band replaced with white gold—it’s so perfect!

How would you describe the way you feel about each other?

James: Honestly, I can’t imagine my life without Mary, and even if I tried, it would scare me. She’s actually become a part of me. We’ve been living an hour apart for over three years now, and I miss her so much when we’re not together. I admire her heart, the way it passionately seeks the Lord. She truly has a servant’s heart, and she’s everything I want the mother of my children to be. Perhaps most importantly, she keeps me laughing and smiling, and I love her as much as one can love another person.

Mary: James is the best friend I’ve always wanted and prayed for. He just gets me. Most importantly, he shows me the love of God daily through his love and strength. He is always strong when I am falling apart. He keeps me steady. James also teaches me new things everyday. He constantly challenges me to be better and to never give up on something. At the end of the day I feel so safe with him. Finally, James also keeps me laughing—laughing very hard! I am so in love with him, and I will love him forever, and I mean for-ever!

Do you have any special plans for your wedding that you’d like to share?
We truly feel the Lord has brought us together for this very purpose, and our hope is that our wedding will be remembered as an act of willful obedience as we dedicate our lives to each other in the eyes of God.

Congrats guys!!! We had a blast on your shoot and can’t wait until your wedding.

Elizabeth & Carter’s Engagement

Elizabeth and Carter are a very special couple to us. Elizabeth and I have been good friends for about 7 years now, and I’ll never forget the night that we got together and knew that our lives had changed forever. We were having dinner and I told her that I had news and that I was pregnant. She told me she also had news, she had met someone, and was in love. I had never heard her speak those words about any other guy that she had dated so I knew this was someone very special. Well now our little girl is almost 10 months old, and Elizabeth is getting married next month! So exciting!

We had a great night shooting Elizabeth and Carter’s engagement pictures in Coolidge and Renaissance Park, including the very spot that Carter proposed to her. The laughed and smiled the whole time and it felt good to see my friend so happy.

How did you meet?
Carter and I first met at an in school inservice meeting. I noticed him, he noticed me…but neither of us talked to the other. It wasn’t until September when a mutual friend was invited to a Volunteer Football game by Carter and he had another ticket left, so she asked if she could invite me to! I said yes, of course, and I guess that was our first unofficial date.

Anything special you’d like to share about dating?
I asked him out! We had been texting for over a month, and I couldn’t wait anymore. So, one night while out to dinner with my best friend, I sent him a text that said, “When are we going to hang out again?” He replied, “just let me know what works for you.”

Describe your proposal.
Carter and I were supposed to meet for a movie and Carter was late. I got to the movie with 10 minutes to spare and could not get a hold of Carter to talk to him. I kept texting and calling: no response. When he arrived, two minutes before the movie started, he apologized and said he was next door at the Sears and had left his phone in his car. I was like, whatever. He left to go get popcorn and sent me a text that said, “I’m so sorry baby! I wanted tonight to be special and I’ve messed it up.” I knew right then that this was the night. I quickly forgave him. On the drive to the restaurant after dinner, he wouldn’t hold my hand like he always did, or when he did touch my hand, he was rubbing it raw. We went to dinner at 212 Market and he was acting quite odd. I thought maybe he would ask me at dinner, but he didn’t. Then, he decided after dinner that we should go for a walk across the walking bridge and get ice cream at Clumpies, I agreed, all the while my feet were killing me in my heels. I expected him to ask me on the bridge, and he didn’t…So when we got to Clumpies, I thought, maybe here….but no. I told him my feet were hurting and I wanted to leave, but he asked if we could go on a walk. We walked to a bench at the Riverpark, and my phone went off as if I just received a text. I ignored it, he said, “Do you have your purse?” “Yes,” I replied…”Is your phone on?” “Yes.” Then he said, aren’t you going to check your phone? I reached into my purse, got my phone, opened it up to read my text, and he got down on his knee. Trying to shuffle between the text and Carter on his knee, I couldn’t read the text! I was all aflutter. He said, Will you marry me? And I said, “Really?” He said, yes. And I said, “Is this a joke?” He said no…I told him it would not be a very nice joke. And he said, I’m not going to ask again! So I said yes, he put the ring on my finger, we stood up and hugged and kissed :)

Were you surprised?
Not after clues I had received during the evening. I had expected it during an earlier vacation, but knew that night that it would happen.

What is your ring like?
It is a three stone engagement ring. The stones are from Carter’s Grandmother’s necklace.

Do you have any special plans for your wedding that you’d like to share?
It’s an intimate affair for the ones we love the most.

We feel honored that they asked us to do their photography…congratulations Elizabeth and Carter!

Juli & Justin’s Engagement

We met up with Juli and Justin at Clumpies on a busy Saturday. We enjoyed talking with Juli and Justin, hearing about their wedding plans and how they met…they are a fun couple and we knew this was going to be a fun shoot. We started shooting outside of Clumpies and then did a few shots on Fraizer Avenue. Then we headed over to Renaissance Park and got a few more shots of them before heading over the bridge to the Aquarium.

As part of our new blog format I sent Juli some questions about how her and Justin met and so forth and was brought to tears when I read her response. Love is so powerful and I love every story I hear. We are so honored to share the story of Juli & Justin.

When/how did you meet?
Justin and I met at a restaurant while going to visit with my good friend and he was going to meet up with his best friend who was on a semi/informal date, little did they know they would be the ones to introduce me to the future love of my life.

How long did you date?
We were dating for about 4 months when Justin proposed.

How/when did you get engaged?
Justin flew out to San Diego where I was on my internship one weekend in July. The second night he was there, he took me up to a park on the cliffs of the ocean called “Sunset Cliffs.” We have talked about it before and both agreed that we could spend the rest of our lives with each other, it was just that perfect. After going to a nice dinner that night, we went to watch the sunset with a bottle of wine. I actually thought he was thinking about breaking up with me because of how nervous and unusual he was acting, little did I know he was about to pull out a little blue box. He started talking about how all of this, from day one has been a fairytale and how he wanted to continue that with me and fulfill a happy ending to our lives and to our fairytale. At that point, beside a small campfire overlooking the Pacific Ocean, he got on a knee and asked me if I would like to continue the fairytale with him forever. I was completely clueless on what happened, I broke into tears and grabbed him and held him tight and said I do. I knew we had talked about it but I never knew that it would happen so perfectly and especially on that weekend in California.

What is your ring like?
I have a Tiffany’s Nova style ring. And by the way, Tiffany’s does shine better than the competition…:)

What are some of your wedding plans?
Our wedding will be at the Read House in Chattanooga on October 16th, 2010. My hometown is Ooltewah and both sides of the family are huge college football fans. However my side is ALL VOL, seeing as the majority of my bridesmaids I met while cheerleading at Tennessee, and Justin being from Douglasville, GA is all about Geogia. I’m sure there will be plenty of unplanned excitement and friends and family celebrating!

Juli and Justin have a lot of energy and passion for each other and it made for a really fun shoot. We are really excited to be doing Juli’s Bridal pictures this summer. She has a designer dress and I can’t wait to see it! Their wedding will surely be stunning. Juli has a very specific vision of style and elegance for her wedding…we are honored to be a part of it.
