Welcome!

We are Grant & Sara Dotson. As a husband and wife team, we bring a unique perspective to photography, one influenced by life experiences as well as comprehensive art and design training. Our cameras are an extension of not only our eyes, but our minds and hearts, instantly capturing moments and emotions just as they occur. We enjoy getting to know our clients on a personal level and helping them feel that they're a part of a partnership. Every client is different, and our photographs seek to reflect each individual personality for truly unforgettable memories.

Amy & Joe: Engaged

Amy is an incredibly talented designer with Widgets & Stone, and I’ve worked with her on several commercial photography projects in the past. So I was really excited when she got in touch to tell me she was engaged, and asked us to photograph the wedding! I met her and Joe at Renaissance Park on the nicest day of the year for their engagement shoot, and they were perfect subjects. And at the end of the shoot, Joe had already made reservations for them to have a date while they were all dressed up. Thanks guys—can’t wait for September!

Virginia & Rupert, Engaged

Virginia and Rupert were kind enough to let me steal some of their time on a brief visit down from their home in New York for a quick engagement shoot. We tell all of our new clients that one of our favorite things about an engagement shoot is simply getting to know each other, and that was definitely the case with these two. I felt like we had a great connection right from the start, and that made them very easy to work with.

Darby & Carl, Engaged

Long before Darby and Carl got engaged, he took her to the Blue Hole on Montlake Mountain and said “this is where we should do our engagement photos.” When she told me that, I knew we had to make it happen. So we checked the fall colors forecast, and picked just the right time of day for the best light. They did the rest, just by being their sweet selves in front of the camera. Thanks for a fun shoot, Darby and Carl! Can’t wait for the wedding.

Hello (Again)

As I write this, it’s been 8 months since our last blog post. Whoops! It’s not that we haven’t been busy…in fact, since then we’ve delivered 18,928 photos for 71 client projects ranging from California, Florida, and New Jersey to right here at home.

So where have we been? Well, I’ve always thought of updating the blog as something to do after we’ve finished all of our obligations to our clients. Looking back, that may not have been the best plan—after all, at the end of each project there’s another waiting to be started. But now that the lull of a new year has set in, it looks like a great time to share some of the fun we’ve been having.

So in the coming days and weeks, I’ll be posting highlights of those shoots that haven’t made it to the blog yet. I’m probably too far behind to get them all up, but Sara and I are excited to get up here as much as we can. (And going forward, I’ll be making a point to share what we’re doing in something close to real time!)

In the meantime, here’s a peek at some of the shoots we’ll be posting soon.

If you haven’t subscribed to our RSS feed yet, now would be a great time!
