We were so excited when Hope McKinney contacted us to tell us she was getting married. She is the younger sister of Heidi, a former client of ours from a few years ago. Shortly after Heidi’s wedding she was diagnoses with leukemia and it was her sister Hope’s bone marrow that saved her life.
This beautiful young woman has found an amazing man, and their love is evident in every look. We had fun walking around Main Street getting lots of fun and fabulous pictures of Hope and Stephen. We are looking forward to their wedding on Lookout Mountain and so happy to share the story of this special couple.
We hope you enjoy, Hope & Stephen…
How did you two meet?
Stephen and I met our freshmen year of college, at a math placement exam. :) We met through a mutual friend, but soon became closer friends after I asked him to be my date to a dance.
What is your ring like?
My ring is perfect. Stephen did such a wonderful job. He took so much time picking it out and making sure that it was the right one. He wanted to make it special. It is so vibrant and sparkly! It’s exactly what I wanted.
Anything special you’d like to share about dating?
Dating Stephen has been like finding my long lost best friend. I remember when we first started talking and getting to know one another, I couldn’t believe how easy it was to talk with him about anything. I have loved the past three and a half years because I can truly express anything and everything to him. He definitely makes me a better person.
Describe your proposal.
Stephen’s proposal was like a fairy tale. On November 6th, Stephen and i had planned to go to a concert in Atlanta, and a few friends were coming along as well. My best friend, Jess, and her fiance Alex were some of the friends that came along. Stephen and Alex had surprised us, and said that they had a big day planned for us the next day, and that we were going to spend the night with some family friends in Atlanta. Little did I know that Stephen was going to get me up at 4:00 AM the next morning!! He woke me up, and said that Alex and Jess would just meet up with us later. I had no clue something was up. :) As we were driving I saw that we were exiting at the airport. This is where I started to freak out a little bit. He handed me a boarding pass when we got in the airport and said that we were going to Disney World! I was so excited! And so was he. When we arrived in Orlando, Stephen and I rode a few rides, and then he proposed in front of the castle at magic kingdom. It was absolutely amazing–like a dream. I couldn’t love anyone more than I love Stephen.
How would you describe the way you feel about each other?
Stephen and I just understand each other. There is something about our relationship that just makes complete sense. He keeps me grounded and I keep him spontaneous. I couldn’t imagine marrying anyone else. People always ask you “Is he the man of your dreams?” and I always have to say, “no, he’s so much more.” God knew exactly what I needed.
Do you have any special plans about your wedding that you’d like to share?
We are getting married at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian, and the reception is going to be at the Lookout Mountain Golf Club.
