Memphis Zoo Rehearsal Dinner

We had the wonderful privilege of photographing Allison & Clark’s Rehearsal Dinner. This was at the spectacular Teton Trek inside the Memphis Zoo.

It was a cold night but everything was beautiful and Allison & Clark were so happy and excited about the next day.

It was a special night and we wanted to show just a few pictures from this event.

Amber & Jim’s Wedding

What a beautiful wedding!

We had a wonderful time shooting Amber and Jim’s wedding. Every detail was beautiful and everything went so smoothly. It was obvious a lot of planning and work went into this special wedding. They were both so happy all day long…it was a joy to be around them!

Amber and Jim had their ceremony at Patten Chapel and a beautiful reception at The Read House. We also loved getting to work with Alicia and Tyler of Foxy Events, who made this wedding so special for Amber & Jim.

A huge congratulations to the happy couple…it was such a pleasure working with you both!

Katie & Robbie’s Engagement

My engagement session with Katie and Robbie was bittersweet. We met Katie back at the Formal Affair Bridal Show earlier in 2010 and we talked back and forth for months as they determined what kind of wedding they wanted and trying to find the right date. Soon after they decided on these things and we got the ball rolling things changed for them and their new wedding date was not a date we could shoot. We were really disappointed, but yet happy to be able to have an engagement session with them and get to know them a little more.

Katie and Robbie have a sweet and special story as they have found out while dating, things aren’t always easy. I love how Katie describes their love for each other and their feelings for each other, you can tell they have a strong commitment and so much respect for each other.

We love their story and their pictures…we hope you do too!

How did you meet?
We grew up in neighboring cities and knew a lot of the same people. My profile showed up on the “People You May Know” feature of a website. He read my profile and realized that we had more than just friends in common and inquired about school and dancing. We spent several months chatting about our similarities before we decided to meet for lunch. About three hours later, we parted ways but continued to speak on the phone every day and see each other on my weekends at home from school.

Anything special you’d like to share about dating?
Dating is such a complicated nowadays. When we first got together, we had it set in our minds that we wanted nothing more than friendship. But our friendship was so strong that we (with a little prodding from our friends) realized that we were perfect for each other. It’s not always easy and we have made a lot of mistakes and had some pretty intense arguments, but we always come back to the realization that life without each other wouldn’t be the kind of life that we want. So, we humble ourselves often and always manage to work it out.

How would you describe the way you feel about each other?
Having started off as a long distance relationship, we have really come to value every second that we have together. I feel that we are very complimentary of each other in that he is strong in places I am weak and I have strengths that counter his weaknesses. He is an amazing leader with a great heart and I know the each of us has done and will continue to do anything and everything we can to support and love each other.

Describe your proposal.
We took a day trip to Amicalola Falls and hiked a few trails. After viewing the falls, we found a quiet place by a river and were discussing the future when he pulled the ring from his pocket and proposed.

What is your ring like?
One bigger diamond in the center surrounded by a triangle of three smaller diamonds on each side in a white gold setting.

Do you have any special plans for your wedding that you’d like to share?
We are having a small ceremony at the Day Chapel in the State Botanical Gardens at the University of Georgia on July 10th, 2011.

Congratulations Katie and Robbie!! All the best to you both!

Kristi & Jake’s Engagement

I had such a great evening with Kristi and Jake. I met up with this couple at Rembrandt’s and loved getting to know them and hear more about their plans. We started off shooting at Reflection Riding which is always a beautiful location! They were so much fun and their love was so evident. I loved the combination of friendship and attraction that this couple has.

After that location we went downtown near the walking bridge and had a blast shooting as the sun went down and the moon came out…quite beautiful. We also enjoyed some fabulous light from the street lamps which was really cool to capture.

We are really excited and honored to be a part of Kristi and Jake’s wedding and are looking forward to it. Thanks guys for a great evening shooting…can’t wait to see you again!

How did you meet?
We met July 1, 2002 at a National wrestling tournament in Virginia Beach. I was there to support my brother wrestle and little did I know I would be meeting my future husband that weekend. So it all started when my friend and I were sitting outside the wrestling venue at this water fountain, Jake and his friend approached us and introduced themselves. Jake and I talked nonstop the whole weekend up in the bleachers. When it was time for my family to leave, Jake was still in the finals and I begged my parents to stay late to watch his match. We watched him wrestle one last time and drove back to Georgia with no goodbye. I was really upset on the drive home, because Jake never asked me for my number and I thought I would never hear from him again. Apparently, Jake likes to make things interesting and found my number through the grape vine and called me to ask me out on a date. And the rest is history.

Anything special you’d like to share about dating?
Well, our dating history is unique in a way that our whole relationship was long distance from the beginning until shortly after being engaged. It was tough at times to be so far away from the person you love the most, but I think we were able to build a strong friendship and a good foundation for our relationship.

Describe your proposal.
The proposal was perfect! It was the weekend of my college graduation. My family and a few of my close friends were celebrating my graduation day and we were in the Orleans Square in Savannah, GA taking pictures. When the next thing I know, Jake is down on one knee telling me how much he loves me and that this was the easiest decision of his life, and asked me to marry him and spend the rest of my life with him. It was beautiful, and of course I said yes. It was an amazing feeling and felt so natural. It was just him and me that existed at that moment in time. The fact that my family and friends were present made it so much more special, because it is a special moment that you can’t describe, and sharing that with them meant the world to me.

What is your ring like?
My ring is beyond my expectations. It has such a vintage and unique look to it, and sparkles a mile away! I couldn’t have asked for anything better.

How would you describe the way you feel about each other?
Jake and I have such a special connection, we connect on so many levels. He is my best friend, someone I can trust and love. We definitely balance each other out and make an awesome team. I have never felt this way towards anyone, and he is someone who I look forward to grow deeper in love with everyday.

Do you have any special plans for your wedding that you’d like to share?
Our wedding is going to be a fun celebration with family and friends.
